Samsung CLP-300 Color Laser Printer Testimonials

Last year, I have bought Samsung CLP-300 Color Laser Printer at super low price RM499 (Normal Selling Price is RM1099) during PC Fair III 2007. It's also the world's smallest color laser printer available in the market.

It's small & save space. Good for those who wanted a lightweight printer & cramp work space. However, don't judge it quality by its outlook, still it's capable to do lot decent print jobs all you needed. 

Design

The Samsung CLP-300 is small. It likes those all-in-one inkjet size & you no need to get an extra table to comfort it. I just put in beneath my computer table & let it do the job. It can hold 150 sheets variety of paper sizes. The top of the printer is the output tray with a flap fold attached with it. However, you can't expand the paper handling but I sure it's suffice for small offices or home users like me. 

Features

It shipped with a 300Mhz processor with 32MB RAM built in. USB 2.0 in connection but if you want extra Ethernet connection you may consider Samsung CLP-300N. Features are standard for most color laser printer but it may seem slow in printing speed compared with most color laser printer in market. The most unique feature it has could be its toner cartridge. It comes with 4 cup sizes toner cartridges with CMYK combination. 

Those toner cartridges will handle print up to 1000 pages color (ships with 700 pages starter toner cartridge) & 2000 pages black (ships with 1500 pages starter toner). It may cost you lots in renew those toner cartridges with around RM750 for the whole new set. I think this is the tactics for most of the printer manufacturers, nowadays most of the printers are cheap but you may need to pay around 70% of the cost of the printer for the new set toner cartridges, not included its imaging drum & waste ink tanker.

Performance & Quality
I can't blame any for a small printer like this since it's cheap & small. It runs slower than any color laser printer but it really did decent job for general printing. Print quality is average for its class. Text printing is clean & clear but a bit puffy & looks like double images, not as sharp & nice like monochrome laser printers did. However, monochrome graphics are well in output. The color graphics print shows nice saturation in color & meet the eye. It may not meant for photo printing but still you are capable to output nice photo with some tune-ups & compatible types of photo paper. 

For you information, you can't use glossy photo paper & paper with more than 163g/m2 in weight. Else, your paper will stuck inside the printer or causing problem on the printer since laser printer is using thermal printing instead of inkjet printing. I have tried semi-glossy photo paper & it worked perfectly in this printer. Photo output is no complaint by me & for sure you can't expect its quality same like those photos you printed outside the photo printing station. Still, it did well job in photo-likes quality printing.

Conclusion

It's small, relatively low in price, 3 years warranty & most of all. It's color laser printer! I don't think you able to find any color laser printer in the market which is offering you this best bargain except Samsung. Now the price may back to RM1099 or lower but for sure in next PC Fair you'll have the best offer again. However, you may still need to worry in renewing it toner cartridges in future but who cares? May be I will get another new unit with super low price again. So, what you waiting for? Save your pocket & get one when the offer is back again. Overall, I highly recommended it for those who looking for a inexpensive & lightweight color laser printer.
